My 23rd Birthdayyy!

Hi : )

I know my birthday was last week but a number of you have requested that I film a vlog, SO HERE IT IS! On Oct 4th, we had dinner at a British/Pub kind of restaurant called The Monk’s Table and went to Nuit Blanche.

Ahem. In case you don’t know what Nuit Blanche is . . it’s an annual all-night arts festival that happens in Toronto!

TBH. All I really wanted for my birthday was to spent quality time with my friends since we’re so busy with our lives–I really wanted to use this opportunity as a time for us to reunite :’). Thus, I chose to do more of a get-together “party” ^^;.. keeping it small made it feel like we’re catchin’ up rather than eating. Heh. THANK YOU ANITA, ANTHONY, CHRIS, CONNIE, EMILY, JUDY, KEVIN, LAN, MINH, PARK, RICKY, SYLVIA, TRANG FOR COMINGGG ❤

As for Sunday, which is my actual birth day (October 5th) my boyfriend brought me to an Italian restaurant and surprised me with Cirque Du Soleil :DDD It was my 2nd time going to a circus, but I hardly remember what my first experience was like D: …BUT DAMN. I instantly fell in love with the music at Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios. It ranged from classical to electro-swing, and jazz ❤ AWESOME!

Ty bby for taking me there (●´∀`●) I’ve been itching to go there, but I kept on forgetting LOL.. oh dear.

&& thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I couldn’t have asked for more ❤

Each and every one of you mean so much to me! Thank you for supporting me! /hugs

FAQ: Short Hair, The Hottest Trend

I’m all about empowering women to embrace short hair with all its fierceness and femininity. #TEAMSHORTHAIR

If you’re from the GTA and you’re looking for the best hair salon, then you’re at the right place 😉

Maya Hair Salon – Ranked #1 on Yelp

I agree with a lot of the reviews, so don’t expect ambiance the moment you step into the salon. It’s quite small, so make an appointment because it does get quite busy. When I first arrived, I definitely felt very welcomed and it’s so cute how they offer you a juice box while you’re waiting. LOLL ..costed me $30 for the cut, which is good imo!

I had Chiharu, which I highly recommend her! It was my first time getting a hair cut from an Asian salon so I was quite prepared as I was warned by the reviews that there would be some sort of language barrier. I’d say 2 – 3 pictures should be enough to get your points across (:

Here are the pictures I showed to Chiharu:

Jin Se-yeonJin Se-yeonJin Se-yeon

Can you guess who she is? Jin Se-yeon :p I loved her hair so much in Doctor Stranger, I had to get the same cut. LOL #doesthatmakemecreepy #whatever (PS. I highly recommend Doctor Stranger, such a good kdrama!)

So, I told Chiharu that I haven’t had short hair since I was 10? I was quite nervous because I have been going to the same hairstylist for the past 7 years, so it’s hard to trust another stylist. D: It felt like I was taking a risk, so I asked her to keep an additional inch in case she over-cuts. The process took about 20 mins! She didn’t over-cut and did a great job :’) ❤ I’m def going back to Maya Hair Salon!

Overall, I definitely don’t regret this haircut! I’m so glad I did it because it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. I’ve been noticing a lot of celebrities and Youtubers sporting the short hair, which partially influenced me to do it too. Basically, I went through a 1/4 life hair crisis!? (Is that even possible, LOL). I couldn’t see myself have long hair for the rest of my life, it’s so tiring to maintain long hair D: Honestly, the biggest reason for this life-changing cut is that I’d rather do it now than later because I don’t want to have short hair during my wedding day. Honestly, LOL (If you follow me on my Facebook Page, you’ll have noticed that there’s been a lot of engagement talk going onnn ^-^;). #IFYOUAREREADINGDIS #IAMWAITING LOLL.

Life Lessons I’ve Learned

Hey Linda 😀 i think you are a very inspirational person! do you mind sharing with us your top major life lessons that u have learnt from ur past experiences. thanks 🙂

Flower v2

1. Career

Truthfully, it took me 4-5 years to realize what I wanted to do and I have my subbies to thank for that. Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be a part of Canada’s Justice System (whether it meant becoming a lawyer or a paralegal). However, Youtube has changed my life. Specifically speaking, my followers and subscribers have changed my life. In my previous post, What excites you about your generation? I talked about career changes and choices. If you can spare 5mins, read it! Then you will understand why I think it’s an important life lesson. I knew I wanted to make an impact on the world, but it took a lot of courage to step out of my comfort zone and go for what I’m passionate about. Literally, I spent the past 6 years devoted to Legal Studies. It was frightening, but I’m so happy that I made the decision to go into Business and Marketing/Management. To reiterate from my previous post, “Enjoy what you do. Throughout your lifetime, you should make career choices and many career changes. Do what makes you genuinely happy, and do not be afraid to make career changes.”

2. Education

This goes hand-in-hand with my previous paragraph. It took me 4-5 years to realize that education is not the only way for us to become successful in life. Yes, it plays an important role in life but experience do speak louder than your GPA. If two people had a 3.0 GPA, how will the employer determine which one of the two is a better fit for the company? Experience, personality, etc. One could be educated, but it is does not necessarily mean that he will be successful unless he puts his heart and soul into achieving what he wants. Education does, however, boost your chances of becoming successful but it isn’t an end in itself. Education will provide you with a base, a strong, and solid foundation but it is completely up to you to build upon it.

Granted, if you’re looking to go to Grad School then grades are important because of the admission standards.

3. Relationships

Gosh, I cannot stress how difficult but rewarding it is to maintain relationships. Whether it’s a with family member, friend, or significant other. I learned that no matter how much you fight with your family, you will always love them. I can’t even begin to explain how painful it was to have unreasonably strict parents, who could not merge their culture with the Western culture. However, I learned that it’s unreasonable because I’m different–I’m more westernised than they are.  No one is to blame, but I had to learn to be very, very patient with how they are and I know that they are only trying to ‘protect’ me. Never do anything to break your parents’ heart because they’re the ones who will stay by your side, no matter what.

Friends and significant others. Frankly, I treat them the same. Both require good communication, trust, patience, etc. Be there for your friend and significant other. I don’t think one should be significantly more important than the other. If my friend needed to talk to me, I’ll spend time with him/her. Don’t become one of those people who falls head over heels over their boyfriend/girlfriend and spend every minute with them. It’s not cute, it ruins friendships and relationship. Everybody needs some lovin’ (:

In conclusion, these may be generic or obvious for some of you. However, life can become so hectic that we start living in the moment and start taking people for granted.

I hope this reminds each and every one of you that life is short. Live each day like it’s your last! Make a long-lasting impression, be proud of what yourself.

1. Do you remember your first love? If so, please share a little bit about him/her?

I met my first love in Gr. 9 🙂 We were really shy, heh.

I believe we dated for about a year and a half. It didn’t work because were too young to know any better. We didn’t know how to communicate properly but we both loved each other whole-heartedly. We were always there for each other 🙂

2. What is one thing that happened during 2013 that you’ll never forget?

I have a terrible memory, so I’m going to talk about what happened in December ._.; Heh. I’ll never forget the importance of not taking someone for granted. My boyfriend and I temporarily drifted apart because we were so focused on ourselves since we’re very career-oriented, studious, etc. If I had not realized it any sooner, I would have lost a really important person. I can’t stress how important it is to communicate, express your emotions, etc. I’m glad we’re not putting each other over our goals, but I won’t forget how painful it is to experience someone slowly drifting away and not realizing it until it felt like there was a brick wall in-between us.

3. Are you looking forward to anything in 2014? If so, what is it?

In January, I looked forward to graduating. Since I’ve graduated, I’m looking forward to improving my skills :’) So, I’m considering on pursuing further education later on in the year. Specifically speaking, in Marketing Management! I also want to work for another company, possibly within the United States (FINGERS CROSSED). Los Angeles or New York, please #hireme

ALSO. I’m making travel plans with my boyfriend, so that’s another thing I’m looking forward to :’) Lastly, I want to save as much as I can so I can pay off my tuition. Heh.

4. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Okay. This is so hard because if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life then my body lacks in nutrients TT_TT Meaning, I’ll end up dying early because I’m malnourished 😦 So, I’ll go with what I’m currently craving for..

Ice cream. Fuck.

5. Pick a book that you think everyone HAS to read.

I read a lot of textbooks though, but I suppose that does not count since it’s mandatory.

6. What’s one song that you hear that makes you cry/want to cry?

Yoon Gun – Love Too Much (사랑해도너무나)

7. Another song that puts you in a good, happy mood.

Currently? NS Yoon-G(NS 윤지) _ Yasisi(야시시) So addicting *-*;… she’s so beautiful.

8. A place you want to travel to and explore?

Aw, I wish I was on my Macbook Pro so I can upload my bucket list 😦
There isn’t one place that comes to my mind, but multiple.

  • Italy, Japan, London, England, Paris, Philippines, South Korea, and many more *-*

9. What is your favourite board game/card game?

10. What is that one random, small object, or small that is linked to a happy memory?

I don’t have it on me, but it’s a hand lotion that I bought from Bath & Body works 3 years ago. I met my boyfriend in October, which is the cold and dry weather/season. I don’t know why but the scent of this hand lotion reminds me of when my boyfriend and I first met ^^ Specifically speaking, him and the place he lived at in 2nd year. It’s so nostalgic every time I use it. It even gives me butterflies, heh.

11. How has Tumblr changed your life? (If it has…) Better or for worse?

Truthfully, if it was not for Tumblr — I wouldn’t be a foodie or a  travel enthusiast. Seeing all these pictures made me want to be there, travel there. OH. Don’t get me started with food, hah. It made me want to improve my baking and cooking skills!

My 11 questions:

1. What is one thing you will never do again?
2. Would you rather be twice as smart or twice as happy?
3. What happened the last time you cried?
4. What happened the time in your life when you were the most nervous to do something?
5. What would your parents be surprised to learn about you?
6. What’s your worst habit?

What excites you about your generation?

Let’s be honest, Generation-Y? We are a breed of our own.

Born in the mid-1980’s and later, Generation Y legal professionals are in their 20s and are just entering the workforce. With numbers estimated as high as 70 million, Generation Y (also known as the Millennials) is the fastest growing segment of today’s workforce.

I love how ambitious we are, social, and itching to make an impact. We want to live a meaningful and purposeful life.

You’re probably wondering, “Where is she going with this?”

Hi! It’s been a while :’) In case you did not know, I recently graduated and I’m currently working full-time as a Marketing and Communications Analyst. I LOVE IT!

I’ll be honest though, I’m not too fond of the top-down leadership style. Seriously? It’s 2014. It’s all about open-concept work spaces that promote engagement between all workers – regardless of their seniority. It’s no longer an exception, but the norm. What’s with these cubicles, walls, closed doors, and even assigned desks? I may not be pleased, but I love the experience. It allows me to know what I want and don’t want in a workplace. For now, I’ll enjoy my cubicle :’) ’cause I probably won’t be working in this sort of environment after 8 months, heh.

..and that’s the great part about Gen Y. Job hopping is the ‘new normal’ for Gen Y. Supposedly, ninety-one percent of Gen Y are expected to stay in a job for less than two to three years. You know what? I completely agree. I don’t want to be “stuck” at a company that  does not embrace the work-life blend, does not have a positive culture, or focuses on presence more than performance. I want to experience and explore. Why? A great part of our life is devoted to our career-choices/decisions.

How a typical American/Canadian spends their weeks. Reference:
How a typical American/Canadian spends their weeks.

I used to dislike it when my teachers told us, “Do what you love in life and our careers!” I kept on thinking, what? Well, I would not make ‘a lot’ of money if I did what I love. Wrong. First of all, it is subjective on what ‘a lot’ of money is. More money does not mean more happiness. If anything, it is temporary happiness. Family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, and enjoying what you do gives you long-lasting happiness. I rather do what I love and strive to excel at what I love doing (which equates to an increase in income overtime) than do what I hate and make ‘a lot’ of money.

So, embrace it! Enjoy what you do. Throughout your lifetime, you should make career choices and many career changes. Do what makes you genuinely happy, and do not be afraid to make career changes. Do not settle for a company because you think no other company will hire you, etc. Life’s too short to settle in on anything :’)

2014, to another wonderful year

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”
– Søren Kierkegaard

It’s been a while, but I thought we should catch up ❤ How’s 2014 treating everyone so far? Good? Fantastic?

For me, I knew this would be the year filled with challenges and opportunities but I am surprised how overwhelmed I’m already feeling. In case you did not know, I will be graduating from University in less than four months. This means that I’m about to move to the next chapter of my life, which I am so excited but awfully nervous as well.

For one, I am still deciding on what I’m going to write next. This can only be determined if I can find a career that’s right for me. However, I have found a career that I am passionate about, but it all depends on whether or not I can sell myself well aka searching for a new job is extremely stressful. Then there’s an issue of where I’ll be; I don’t want to restrict myself so I am willing to be in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, New York, WHO KNOWS. Furthermore, because I don’t know – I’m worried about the possibility of continuing this agonizing long distance between my boyfriend and I.

So, how should one stay positive? I have thought about it and I realized that, our worry-filled thoughts could negatively impact our choices and decisions. Therefore, it is important to do whatever you can to really soak in the lovelier aspects of your life.

1. Be Strong

It is important to have faith in yourself because once you do; good things will come into your life. When you want something bad enough, let that drive push you to make it happen. Giving up, running away, or second guessing yourself will never achieve what you seek. Sooner or later, it will catch up to you and you’ll regret all that could have happened.

Keyword: Could’ve

Never let life impede on your ability to manifest your dreams, especially people. Dig deeper into your dreams, deeper into yourself, and believe that anything is possible. Trust yourself. With that mentality, anything and everything is possible. Even when time gets tough, remind yourself that no pain comes without a purpose. Learn from your mistakes and move on (:

2. Take Action

You know that without taking action, nothing will come true. Success does not happen overnight, you have to work for it; you have to bring about the results. Good things take time! Have patience (: This is not 2013, #YOLO is not the answer. It is important to live in the moment, but have dreams and hopes too; something to work towards. I believe that life is more fulfilling when we are productive. If we have nothing to work towards, then we tend to feel hopeless and/or useless.

3. Complain Less

It is true; those who complain the most will accomplish the least. It is okay to worry every now and then but it is important to not dwell on your mistakes or the past. Thinking positively will elevate your mood, which leads to accomplishments and productivity.

Overall, I hope this got you thinking :’) Let me know how you stay positive!

There is no such thing as an ending. This is just the beginning,

How To Prioritize Your Life

Hi Linda 🙂 I was readin one of your lastest reply to a question, and i realised that you said that school is your no.1 priority;& i was curious as to how you are able to balance everything in life like studies, relationships, socialising etc coz I find it a struggle to have a balance and I’m afraid to go into a relationship cozthere might be a chance it might greatly impact my studies? Also when did ur parents let you have a bf ?& wen will you be uploading a new fashion vid? exicited xD xx

Today I will be shedding some lights into a very important aspect of our lives that most people aren’t even the least conscious of, prioritization.

Planning and prioritizing does not happen overnight and it takes a lot of time and effort. It can be difficult and frustrating because you may feel like everything is important ><; /sigh

1. One Step at a Time

I personally like to create a to-do list/weekly agenda because it ensures that I don’t get distracted and lose track of important things that need to be done. Don’t over-load your agenda either though; 2 – 3 goals should be more than enough 🙂  It’s better to create short-term goals because they encourage you to set realistic, easy to accomplish goals. I know I have a tendency to plan out my life but I think it’s more important to live in the moment.
Note: Life-time vision gives you short-term motivation; it doesn’t give you immediate satisfaction.

2. Over-Achiever

I can guarantee that the majority of us are over-achievers. Don’t get me wrong, being ambitious and an over-achiever does not have to be a negative trait. However, it can be bad if you are doing more than what you can handle. I have this underlying fear of failure or self-worth and I would always try and strive for goals based on a pure desire to achieve. Achieve what? I breathe and live for accomplishments and distinction. Let me tell you, do not fall into this over-achiever syndrome. Sometimes I’ll accidentally skip my meals because I’m so focused on achieving my goals. What helped me overcome the over-achiever syndrome is changing my mentality. We’re human beings, not human doings. Find the balance ➛ work hard, play hard. Pick up some personal hobbies like cooking and baking (:
Note: Sleep eight hours every night (sleep actually aids memory and retention) and load up on nutrient-rich foods.

3. Relationships

Family and friends are what’s going to keep you sane in life. I’m not against dating but I do think the timing of it is important because it can negatively affect your grades and well-being. Think about the amount of time and energy you are willing to maintain a relationship with this person. Are you both willing to put in 90% of the effort? How are you going to convince your parents to let you have a boyfriend?  It wasn’t until 2nd year of University my parents allowed me to have a boyfriend. It truly makes your life so much better when your parents approves :’)
Having a significant other requires a lot of attention and effort. If you really care about someone and want to be with them, you will find a way to make time. Don’t dwell on the past and address any problems you may be having because if you choose to disregard it, it can start to affect all aspects of your life. I see my boyfriend at least twice a week but it depends how heavy our work-load is.
Note: Make the people you love a top priority, always. Don’t make people a priority that only makes you an option.

4. Social Life

Achieving a balance between academics and social life can be frustrating and stressful at times. If you cannot make a lot of time for your friends, why not have dinner with them? Everyone needs to eat 😀 Join a club or organization, have a study date/party, or work out with your friends. It helps if you make one or two commitments a month with your friends and that will motivate you to work hard now so you can enjoy your time with your friends later. Resist temptations and say no to peer pressure :’)
Note: Make the most of your College years and not waste your time—or huge amount of money—on alcohol and partying. Be responsible because education does determine your future.

Also, I want to recommend a book called, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff for Women: Simple and Practical Ways to Do What Matters Most and Find Time For You”. Let me know in the comments, how do you prioritize?

There is no such thing as an ending. This is just the beginning,
